Play-In-A-Day 2012
Beth Marshall Presents is pleased to announce the company for our 2012 Play-In-A-Day Season Kick-Off benefit in association with Penguin Point Productions and Lake Howell High School! This year’s event offers more plays than ever before (15 in total), ranging in lengths from one to five minutes, featuring the talents of over 50 of Orlando’s most veteran theatre professionals working alongside emerging top high school talent to offer up 100% original plays all written, rehearsed and fully performed off book within a 24-hour time span!
CONGRATS to our 1st Annual Beth Marshall Presents District 3 Thespian Scholarship winner Ellen Boener!
Ellen Boener, 17, is a Senior at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Florida. She has performed in productions of I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Robin Goodfellow, Comedy of Errors, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, and RENT. She has Stage Managed several productions at school including the ongoing production of In the Heights. Last year she debuted and directed her regionally acclaimed play Good Will Out. She has received straight Superior ratings at the District and State level every year of her high school career in events including: Duet Acting, Large Group Musical, Playwriting, and Monologues. She has been awarded 3 Best in Show for District 3, twice in Playwriting and once in Large Group Musical, and an Honorable Mention in Duet Acting.
Outside of Creek Ellen has performed and served on the production staff of Orbit Theatre Company and Daytona State College. Aside from theatre, Ellen is the Drum Major of the Spruce Creek High School Marching Band and a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society as well as a distinguished IB and AP student. She is currently a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. Ellen is in the process of applying to several Universities including Florida State University, Columbia, Yale and Cornell where she hopes to double major in Theatre Performing Arts and English.
Ellen would like to thank her family for their love and support and Beth Marshall for making this incredible opportunity possible. Ellen is honored to be the first recipient of this scholarship and sends her best wishes to all other rising Thespians that could benefit from this award.

What’s new about the event this year?
- Brand new location (Lake Howell High School)
- Incorporating high school students into the talent pool
- Adding a dance component using the same 24-hour format
- Many new playwrights, directors and actors (over 50 artists)
- Exploring time and lengths of plays (each of our 8 teams will be performing 2 plays instead of one)
- Pre-Show Silent Auction, Raffle and Social with food/drinks
- Proceeds from the event benefit the 2012-13 Beth Marshall Presents Season as well as District 3 Thespians to create a new theatre scholarship for a graduating high school student.
