Beth Marshall Presents is thrilled to once again be in partnership with Lake Howell High School and Penguin Point Productions for our second year to be kicking off our 2013-14 BMP season with a long-time theatrical community event: PLAY-IN-A-DAY!
SAVE THE DATE NOW: SATURDAY, SEPT. 7TH at 7pm at Lake Howell High School. join 100 of a mix of Orlando’s youngest and emerging theatre students with representation from over 10 high schools in/around Central Florida, working in collaboration with many of our city’s finest veteran theatre artists.
Partial Proceeds from this event go to awarding the 2013-14 Beth Marshall Presents District 3 High School Scholarship Thespian Award.
What is PLAY-IN-A-DAY?
A group of 100 artists coming together to write, direct, act and fully produce 9 different short plays all with the same theme (given 24 hours in advance) to present an evening of fun theatrical enjoyment for the community.
Artists are divided amongst 9 teams (the most ever this year).
Since the partnership of BMP and Lake Howell in 2012, the event has become more educational in nature and offers over 1/2 of the involvement to select high school actors, crew, front of house and production assistants. One student writer, director and stage manager and production team member was also selected. The rest of the talent comes from the BMP season auditions or recommendations by veteran performers. Following the plays there will be a talk-back with the audience and the announcement of the audience choice award of best play from the evening.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction and raffles.

Their show (which originated at Orlando Fringe 2011 and won the Producer’s Award and Patron’s Pick ) has since been touring across the US to rave reviews, sold-out houses, and critical acclaim… and is coming BACK to ORLANDO to play at The Abbey Sept.19th-Oct. 27th. James Brendlinger is the Chairman of Arts and Communications at Lake Howell High School and the owner of Penguin Point Productions. In recent years James has produced Orlando Fringe Festival shows such as Anne Frank Superstar, The House of Yes, Mysterious Skin, Zanna Don’t, Tape, and A Long Time Ago: The Eighties Strike Back. Kaitlyn Harrington is an incoming senior at Lake Howell High School. Beyond being the District 3 Representative for Florida State Thespians, she is also the stage manager for Lake Howell Theater Company. Recently, she directed and stage managed the production RENT. She is ecstatic to be assisting Beth and Production Stage Manager, Jay Ferrence for her second Play-In-A-Day experience!

Ellen Boener- 18, student writer, is a first time participant in the PIAD Festival. Ellen has performed and stage managed in over 20 productions at the local, high school, and collegiate level. She is also the recipient of the first ever Beth Marshal Presents District 3 Scholarship. Most recently she was awarded Critic’s Choice for Playwriting at Thespian State Festival.
Michael Marinaccio holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from UCF, and has been working as a professional Theatre Artist for 20 years. Beth Marshall Presents fans last saw him in the role of CC Showers in The Diviners, though this will be his first time participating in Play-In-A-Day in over a decade. Mike now works full time as the Festival Producer of the Orlando Fringe.
CK Anderson is a Junior at Boone High School. His professional credits include leading roles in Legally Blonde, Biloxi Blues, The Diviners, The Flight of the Earls, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, To Kill a Mockingbird, Anatomy of Gray, The Wizard of Oz, Once Upon a Mattress, The Music Man, 42nd Street, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Curious Savage and Orlando Ballet’s The Nutcracker. Julie Snyder- After her debut Beth Marshall Production as Daisy in Biloxi Blues, Julie is thrilled to be performing in 3 Beth Marshall productions this season! Favorite roles include: Claire Strain (Flight of the Earls), Berdine (Psycho Beach Party), BeBe Gunn (Sideways Stories from Wayside School). Kelly Kilgore holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Central Florida and a dual BFA in Acting and Musical Theatre from Abilene Christian University. Recent Orlando credits include Lavinia in Titus Andronicus (Orlando Shakespeare Theatre), Hannah in QUAKE: A Love Story (A.R.T. Co. for FringeNYC), and the Baker’s Wife (Theatre UCF). Kevin Sigman- This is Kevin’s first time performing with Play-In-A-Day, and second time working with Beth Marshall Presents. This summer, he completed a successful run of Jett Backpack with YES/AND Theatre Company at the Orlando and Atlanta Fringe Festivals. Recent productions include Frost/Nixon with Empty Spaces Theatre Co. and Into The Woods at the Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse.

Gabriella Juliet- PIAD first-timer! This senior, internationally ranked Thespian, President of the Theatre Department and Vice President of the Chorus Department at Boone High School, has been onstage and backstage for numerous shows. Recently she’s completed summer training at the North Carolina School of the Arts and CampBroadway in NYC. She’s pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre and eventually an MFA in Directing. Tara Rewis is very excited to be back with BMP, She just came off a great run at the Fringe with Boogie shoes and Charade Theater’s debut collaboration The Mud Flapper Variety Hour. Tara has worked with PRT, GOAT, The Orlando Rep, Breakthrough and many more. She would like to thank her Husband, her family and the amazing cast and crew.
Samuel Butcher is a Political Scientist by training, Writer by passion, Director and Producer by avidity, and an impish scalawag by disposition. He likes sex, cigarettes, and a woman’s silhouette. He is an Ethical Hedonist, a Rationalist Deconstructionist Ignostic Nontheist, a Sex-Positive Neo-Third Wave Feminist, and a Libertarian-Socialist. He believes most of those words matter. This is his first Play-In-A-Day.
Elina Moon is thrilled to make her first PIAD appearance! She has performed in 13 shows at West Orange High School including Mississippi Woods, Victorian Silence, Jekyll & Hyde. Favorite roles include Darcy in Banks Helfrich’s Fat, Dumb and Happy; Ramona (Ramona Quimby, Orlando Rep), Helen Keller (Miracle Worker, Bay Street). A.J. Harrett is very excited for his second year in P.I.A.D. and Beth Marshall Presents! He has been previously seen in shows around Florida with The Murder Mystery Company, and Writes of Spring. A.J. wants to give shout out to Beth and all the amazing people working on this wonderful project! He would like to thank his friends, and family for their support, especially his girlfriend Connie.

Andy Haynes- This is Andy Haynes’ second time writing for PIAD, having won the audience choice award for “Best Overall Play” last year. This also marks his third year with BMP, having acted in Biloxi Blues and The Diviners. He is a published and award winning playwright, web series writer, creative consultant for themed entertainment, and proud member of the Dramatist’s Guild.
Donald Johnston, Jr. is an upcoming senior at Lake Howell High School and is ecstatic to be welcomed into the Beth Marshall Presents production team for 2013-14. This is his very first acting position in a professional setting, and he cannot find a better way to be welcomed into the theater community than by Beth Marshall herself. Thank you Beth!

Terri Giannoutsos is excited and honored to be apart of Play in a day for the second year. This will be her year writing in the event. She is excited and a bit nervous. In the past year, she has worked with Theatre Downtown, Greater Orlando Actor’s Theater, Beth Marshall Presents, and of coarse The Orlando Fringe Festival. Enjoy the show!
Cody David Price is a Lake Howell Alumni from the class of 2011. Cody has directed such plays as Eric Bogosian’s Talk Radio and SubUrbia and has taken two shows to the Orlando International Fringe Festival Anne Frank Superstar, and Wendy Macleod’s The House of Yes. Cody is currently finishing up his last year at Full Sail University where he is studying Film.
Denna Beena is super excited to be working on her first PIAD production. She has worked many roles and performed many years at SAK Comedy Lab and now has her own production company, Pink Hair Productions where she works and performs many roles for herself. PHP has produced several shows and events including the award winning Dia de la Murtos and Monster Factory at CityArts Factory. You can also see Denna in constant motion at Spooky Empire events where she is an assistant producer and director of volunteers and security. She would like to thank Beth Marshall for the chance to work with PIAD and also Beatnik later this year. Break legs everyone!
Jac LeDoux has been active in the theatre scene for over 40 years, onstage as well as behind the scenes, acting, directing, writing, etc! From Michigan to Connecticut and now in Florida, Jac has worked with professional and community based groups. Some of her favorite roles include; ‘Mary Magdalene’ in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, ‘Hot Lips Houlihan’ in “MASH”, ‘Eliza’ in “My Fair Lady” and ‘Little Mary Sunshine’ in the play of the same name! She has said that directing “Godspell” was amazing and wonderful. But the role that has come closest to her heart is her last role as ‘Jez’ in “Slow Ride” which just concluded in College Park . Jac is currently Floor Supervisor and Director of Actors at Titanic the Experience where she ‘lived’ for over 11 years. “The best thing is all the talented and fun people I have met over the years, many of whom have become like family to me.” “To take the audience out of their world and into ours, even for just a little while, that is the wonder and the privilege of what we do!”
Brett P. Carson has been privileged to be part of Play In A Day for many years, and is honored to be here again. He can most often be seen as the Conductor of the Hogwarts Express at Universal, and has a very simple performing philosophy: if it’s not illegal and it pays he’ll do it. He hopes you enjoy the show and hopes to see you again at Beth Marshall Presents’ event Beatnik this October at Blue Starr’s Venue.
Bruce Costella is pleased as punch to perform in his first Play in a Day. He hopes his charm and good looks overshadow any misgivings you may have with his performance. Favorite credits include Donalbain/Porter in Sisyphus Production’s Macbeth, Coulmier in Quills with Frost/Butcher, Humphrey in Cannibal! the Musical and Horatio in Hamlet.

Janine Klein is beyond excited to be writing for the first time for PIAD. Janine is usually seen performing around town most recently in MadCow’s cabaret festival and the Orlando Fringe, and recently performed a cabaret in NYC at the Duplex. Janine would like to thank Beth for everything over the years, especially for her belief in her writing.
Susan Walsh is delighted to be a part of her first PIAD. Despite her gainful employment as biology professor, she can’t seem to stay out of the theater and has stage managed over 30 shows. Locally, you may have seen her climbing ladders during the Orlando International Fringe Festival when the Red Venue was outdoors.
Cara Fullam is ecstatic to be back for her second year in PIAD! She has been seen in numerous community productions, including Spring Awakening with GOAT and Jesus Christ Superstar with Breakthrough. Later this season, Cara will be performing in Beth Marshall’s BEATNIK, along with music directing Penguin Point Production’s Bare. Honor and glory goes to God. Enjoy the show(s)!
Tod Caviness is a nightlife columnist at the Orlando Sentinel. Despite his tireless work for “the man,” he was named Best Poet/Spoken Word Artist for 2011 and 2012 by Orlando Weekly readers. Each year, he coordinates poetry events for the Orlando Fringe Festival, and each month he wrangles authors, poets and several other species of drunkards as the host of the long-running Speakeasy night at Will’s Pub. He is jazzed to return to Play-in-a-Day after his stint as a playwright in 2010.
Melina Countryman is a student at UCF double majoring in Theatre and Sociology. Since graduating Boone High School in 2011 she has been in productions such as Spring Awakening (Wendla), West Side Story (Maria), Urinetown the Musical (Hope Cladwell), and most recently as Penny in Onomatopoeia at 2013 Orlando Fringe Festival. This is Melina’s first experience with PIAD and couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it!

Viet Nguyen is thrilled to participate in PIAD as a writer, after having a blast as an actor in his first PIAD last year. Viet was most recently seen slithering and scheming as the Second Witch in Sisyphus Production’s Macbeth at the Orlando Fringe Festival. His other favorite credits include his one-person Fringe shows The Monkey King and Reincarnation Soup, Rashomon at Mad Cow Theatre, Cowboy Versus Samurai with the Asian Pacific American Scene, Inc., and Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens with Checkerboard Productions.
Jeremy Seghers- Having moved from Orlando to New York exactly one year ago, Jeremy is thrilled to be visiting and directing for PIAD again. Many thanks to Beth and James for including him in this wonderful event.
Anastasia Kurtiak (First Year Intern) is a recent graduate of Lake Brantley High School. She started her theatrical career her Junior year by joining Brantley’s Drama Department and first taking on the role of Make-Up Director. In her first year she served as the make-up artist for Once Upon a Mattress and ended her Senior year as scenic painter and a constructor for Grease. Last season she participated in Play-In-A-Day as a stage manager and overall Make-Up Director for the event. Stasia’s first professional position was as the head scenic painter for Beth Marshall PresentsBiloxi Blues and her first paid show was Children of a Lesser God where she assisted in stage management. She will be attending Valencia Community College to further her education and passion by pursuing a degree in Technical Theatre with a focus in stage managing.
Kate Lockwood is thrilled to be part of Beth Marshall Presents! She recently made her Orlando debut in Joseph Hayes’ production of A Slow Ride. Originally from the North East, Kate graduated from NYU with a major in classical stage. Recent performances include King John at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. Special thanks to her cast, her wonderfully supportive family and friends, and especially her Squirrel Man.
Amanda Hughes- This is Amanda’s first time participating in Play-in-a-Day! In the future, Amanda is a surrealist comedian. In the present, she’s a junior at Boone High School and an officer for Thespian Troupe 1139. She sends her most sincere thanks and love to her parents, Lulu, God and Noel for everything. She wants nothing more than to make you smile.
Daisy Layman is a junior at spruce creek high school. She is an active member of orbit performing arts academy, where she takes dance class and voice lessons throughout the week. Past theatre credits include: Rent(Maureen), Little Shop of Horrors(Audrey), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Millie), West Side Story(jet girl), and Hair(Crissy,Sheila u/s). This is her first Beth Marshall Presents Production, and she is so thrilled to be a part of it!
Alexander Mrazek is excited to be back for his second year of PIAD. A Chicago native, Alex has worked with Universal Studios, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. Favorite roles: Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast), Capt. Hook (Peter Pan), and Father (Ragtime). Mike Deaven (Assistant to the Producer) is very excited to be acting in his first Play-in-a-Day! His first BMP production was Children of a Lesser God (Orin) earlier this year. He was most recently seen onstage at the Orlando Fringe Festival in all saints all souls (Evan). After PIAD, Mike will also be appearing in Alice Lost in Wonderland, Beatnik, and 33 Variations later on this BMP season. He is also very excited to be a part of the BMP company as Assistant to the Producer. He wishes to thank his parents for all of their love and support and Beth for giving him so many opportunities!

Irene L. Pynn is a graduate of Seton Hill University’s Writing Popular Fiction MFA. Her plays have received productions in different states around the country, and her short stories have appeared in print and e-zines. Irene has written and collaborated on several transmedia games and stories, and she is a regular contributor at Inveterate Media Junkies with her column, The Princess and her PS3. Eliza Stevens graduated from University of Central Florida’s BFA Theatre Performance Program. Last year Eliza had a blast acting in PIAD; this year she is super excited to be directing! Eliza’s previous directing experience includes Assistant Director of Alice Experiments in Wonderland at UCF and Assistant Director of the Playfest Stage Reading of Exit Pursued by a Bear at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.
Ally Gursky has been involved in the Orlando theater scene for 16+ years and this is her third year involved in Play in a Day.. She has worked with Baby Blue Starr Productions, Carbon Productions, Universal Studios, Theater Downtown, Penguin Point Productions & GOAT. She has worked with BMP on The Diviners, Play in a Day the past two years, Prop 8 on Trial, Biloxi Blues and Children of a Lesser God.
Madison Graham graduated from the UCF theatre program in 2011 with a Minor in American Sign Language. This is her first time taking part in Play in a Day and is her second Beth Marshall Presents Production. She last played Lydia in Children of a Lesser God for Beth Marshall Presents. She is very excited to be a part of this season’s production and is excited to work with such amazing people.
Corey Price is an 18 year old senior in high school. He is stoked to be apart of his 2nd Play In A Day! He has been involved in over 35 productions in and around the Orlando Area. Previous credits include, All Shook Up (Athens Theatre), R&H State Fair (Orlando REP). Corey is a proud member of the Orlando Repertory Theatre’s Power Chords. He plans to pursue his BFA In Musical Theatre this summer at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA NY).
Sarah Lockard is thrilled to be a part of PIAD this year for her fourth time. She works at Valencia College and Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Theater and dances with Voci Dance. Some of her favorite shows in Orlando include Mrs. Warren’s Profession and Amadeus at Mad Cow Theatre, Sylvia at Icehouse Theater, Prelude to a Kiss at Theatre Downtown, and Cannibal! The Musical at the Orlando International Fringe Festival. Big thanks to Beth and crew for the chance to play and have fun.

David Merchant is a first time PIAD member and he couldn’t be more excited. David is a senior and has stage managed many shows for the theater department at Boone High School. Shows include Anatomy of Gray, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and the competition One-Act, Untitled One-Act that got an overall superior at the Florida State Theater Festival.
Christopher Patrick Walen is a senior at Boone High School, and has been doing theatre for many years now. This is his first time doing Play in a Day, and he hopes you enjoy the show.
Janine Papin enjoys the many hats she wears: teacher, director, choreographer, singer, dancer and actress. She is employed by Trinity Preparatory School, where she is Fine Arts chair, Auditorium Manager, theatre teacher, and director. In 2006 she was awarded The H. Benton Ellis Award for Excellence in Teaching. She loves performing, and sharing her passion for the stage with her students.
Momo Earle is very excited in being part of her first Beth Marshall Presents show! She will also be in Beatnik this season! She has been active in many other theaters in the area for six years. When not doing theater, Momo volunteers for Pug Rescue of Florida, sings, does film, and plays guitar and bass.
Kaitlin Elizabeth Baxter graduated from Rollins College with a degree in theatre, and is currently the Drama Director at Lake Minneola High School. Additionally, she teaches in the Kids’ College program with Lake Sumter College and continues to pursue her love of performance in productions such as Ragtime at St. Luke’s UMC. Kaitlin is a newbie to Play-In-A-Day and is excited for the challenge!
Marissa Ann Volpe is thrilled to be making her BMP debut in Play-In-A-Day! Credits include Hairspray (Tracy), Les Mis (Fantine), Into The Woods (Witch), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena), and many more. Marissa is a senior at Winter Park High School. Thanks to Beth and everyone who ever taught her something. “Love art in yourself, and not yourself in art.”

Ned Wilkinson spent 25 years as a performer and MD in the Branson MO area; he enjoyed Orlando Fringe 2010 so much that he moved here! Local credits include GOAT, Brian Feldman, and his ongoing performances at Winter Park Playhouse. Writing credits: Julie Bunny Must Die!, Patrons Picks Fosgate: Ferret Loan Officer, and TJ & Mr. Oaksite. PIAD first timer!
Kerry Giese is making his “Play in a Day” debut this year. He’s been professionally involved in the theatre for over 40 years in New York, Los Angeles, Orlando and all ports between. Directing credits include numerous shows in New York, including 2 Off Broadway, and Regional Theatres and Theme Parks. Acting credits include ABC-TV’s “Ryan’s Hope” for three years, television, film, Off and Off-Off Broadway, Regional and Theme Parks. As a Stand-Up Comedian, he opened for the likes of Carol Burnett and Henny Youngman, toured and headlined in New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas and America. He has produced shows from New York to tiny Midwestern towns. He has written many plays, one of which debuted in New York City last fall for the NMTC. His wife, Amanda, is a singer, actress and acting and voice teacher. He has two amazingly talented kids.
Theresa Rogers has known Beth for years and has helped out BMP in various capacities since the beginning. She is a high school teacher by day and maker of sparkly stuff by night. She is thrilled to once again be helping out with Play in Day!
Gabriel Patrick is ecstatic to be able to join Play In A Day for his 2nd year and overall 3rd year performing with Beth Marshall Presents on wonderful shows like PIAD . Gabriel is currently a junior at Boone High School and has participated in a number of plays such as The Way Of The Cards, Legally Blonde, PIAD 2012, and numerous others behind the curtains. Gabriel would like to thank his wonderful family for all of their love and constant support for his love of the art, He would also like to thank Beth Marshall for giving him the opportunity to be a part of her season again and for being such a great mentor, He would also like to thank his wonderful Theatre teacher for all of her guidance for without Tiffany Weagly , Gabriel wouldn’t have realized his passion for the art that is acting.
Misha Noel is so excited to be a part of Play In A Day with Beth Marshall Presents. Misha is 17 and has received multiple accolades for her acting, dancing and directing in school. She enjoys her high school theater department as well as an assortment of other awesome activities. She is President of Boon’e Gay Straight Alliance AND Harry Potter club. You can often find her reading a book or building a Lego fortresses with her best friend Katy Smith. She hopes you all enjoy this experience and remember that “in a world full of cheerios, be a fruit loop!”
Zach Weston- A senior at Lake Howell, this is Zach’s 2nd year in Play In a Day. Zach is a proud member of Troupe 4937, the Orlando Rep’s Power Chords, and has performed in several shows at The Rep, LHHS, Orlando Shakespeare Theater and Orlando Youth Theater. Zach would like to thank all affiliated with Beth Marshall Productions for this amazing opportunity.
Matty MacDermid is thrilled to be returning to Play-in-a-Day having previously served as a director in 2008. A professional actor, director, and stage manager, he holds a BFA in Musical Theatre and English Literature. Youth/freedom/joy.
Gwen Boniface earned her B.A. in Theatre from Mary Baldwin College. Since returning to Orlando, she played such roles as Evelyn Nesbit (Ragtime: In Concert, Seminole Repertory Company) and Lucy (Mr. Marmalade, Howler’s Theatre). Most days, you can find her hanging out with the Nicktoons in the entertainment department at the Nickelodeon Suites. This is her second year with Play-in-a-Day.
